Going Green

Solar Electric, Renovated Heat, LED’s, Cisterns and your help

The B&B has a 7600 watt Solar PV system that provides approximately 65% of the houses electrical consumption!

Combined with our changeout of incandescent bulbs throughout much of the B&B, addition of timed or automatic “eyes” we hope to reduce our consumption and bring the array output a little bit closer to our goal of being as energy efficient as reasonably possible.

Our furnace system saw a makeover that increased efficiency while offering greater guest comfort.  Each guest room has its own zone and thermostat, ensuring no uncomfortable cold or heat in your room, while reducing gas consumption.

Be it heat, air-conditioning or the lights in your rooms we ask for your help in conserving during your stay.  Thanks, Brian and Linda

During 2015 a 500 gallon rainwater cistern was installed catching the water off the main roof in the front of the house.  In 2017 we hope to complete a second 500 gallon cistern on the large slope of the garage roof.

Most recently we were certified by the National Wildlife Federation as a Wild Life Habitat, protecting the spaces around the B&B from chemical toxins, and providing natural vegetation for our bird and critter friends!
